The U13 Dragons hosted Elford Boys on a sunny but crisp Saturday morning hoping to bounce back from a narrow loss the previous week.
The boys came out of the blocks with great intent as they went close with an early chance in the opening minutes. Despite the warning signs the opposition didn't react and were punished shortly after as Charley raced clear on the right wing before lashing an effort into the bottom corner to make it 1-0. As the Dragons looked to continue momentum Elford showed signs of threat with their quick counter attacking play with several chances of their own but with no reward.
The Dragons thought they had doubled their advantage late in the second half as Charley tapped home after Lucas' effort but the goal was ruled out with a judged offside and the boys had to settle for their slim advantage heading into half time.
The away team came out after the break with a renewed focus and levelled things up to set up a well contested game. Lucas regained the goal advantage for the Dragons with a tidy finish after being put through on goal. Elford continued to battle however and were again level following an awarded penalty to make it 2-2.
With both sides looking to take home the points it was Elford that capitalised late in the game to take the lead for the first time. As the Dragons looked to salvage something from the game they were caught short at the back in the closing minutes and Elford secured the game to take the win.
Player of the Match went to Theo who again capped a solid performance in midfield to continue his strong start to the season.Goal
