The Falcons met bottom of the league Ashby Ivanhoe Warriors at a boggy pitch for the 10 ‘o’ clock KO.
The boys quickly warmed up and did a lap of the pitch, then did bibs vs non-bibs to get ready for the feisty relegation scrap.
Kick off, Jenson as captain guessed right and got the boys kickoff for the first half and the match was under way. It was tough with the muddy pitch and we didn’t get off to the best start, but no goals were conceded and no goals were scored in an end to end first half.
Half time: Kal “5 at the back” Bhuller needed to give the boys some serious inspiration to up the intensity in this mediocre match, with the main stars of the first half being: Jacob, Harrison and Jake.
Second half: once again the first ten minutes were sloppy and it was looking a bit shaky, but Kal had other ideas, subbing on Jenson, Seb and Lewis, who had come off halfway through the first half, proved to be the right decision, as the intensity shot right up and Bosworth were looking dangerous; finally the goal came. Jake had the ball and played a beautiful through ball to Jenson, who calmly slotted the ball past the keeper and Falcons were finally on the front foot and were dominating.
End of second half: Falcons were good, really good in fact! with the defence: Harrison, Ethan and Charlie putting in a fantastic shift to keep the clean sheet and the wingbacks: Ethan and Jack, then Seb and Lewis were great and contributed really well, with 5 minutes to go, the captain Jenson takes the ball past the keeper after a bobbly cross from Josh and he smashed the ball into the back of the net with his weak foot and that’s game over.
Conclusion, first half was a bit sloppy but the second was miles better and in the end 3 points were achieved, 2 crucial goals by Jenson and a clean sheet by Reilly and the defence summed up a good game. The man of the match goes to… Harrison and it was thoroughly deserved as he won crucial 1 on 1’s and controlled the defence and put in some solid tackles.
Honourable mentions, Jenson, Jake and Jacob put in a crucial effort for the win today.
