Div 4 AFC Bosie Travel to Blaby who are 3rd in Div 2 for the next round of the county cup competition.
The game got underway on what can only be described as a horrendous pitch and resembled something out of a cow field.
However, considering how poor this pitch was, both teams managed to put a cracking tie on and at times managed to play good football.
With the help of the pitch and against the run of play the home team managed to take the lead after 20 mins. Bosie reacted well and around 5 or 10 minutes later Bosworth managed to win a corner.
That resulted in Lewis D swinging a lovely ball into the box that allowed Rees M to bullet header the equaliser into the back of the net. 1-1.
The game moved backwards and forward but on the half hour mark, Blaby won a free kick that resulted in a cracking shot that finished in the back of the goal. 2-1.
Blaby sensed that with a good push they could put this game to bed. Once again and against the run of play, AFC got caught on the break that resulted in a long ball over the top and a penalty was conceded. 3-1. Half time.
With a great team talk from everyone at the break, gave Bosie the belief that this tie was not over.
The second half got underway and within 5 mins captain Rory H threaded a cracking through ball to Henry L who cooly slotted his team back into the tie. 3-2.
This got Blaby panicking and up stepped today’s POTM Connor C. This lad ran and ran and ran as though his life depended on it, with the help of his team mates he managed to run the opposition into the ground. He won the ball in the middle of the pitch, traveled forward and cooly curled Bosie back all square. 3-3 and game on!!!
With around 20 mins left Fitness was starting to show for Blaby and Bosie went up a gear!
The defence (Sean, Harry, Ben and Max) was really controlling the back line well and pushed the ball up to midfield. Once again Rory H threaded a trademark through ball to Rees M who cooly slotted passed the advancing keeper. 3-4 Bosie.
15 mins to go and Blabys attack was brilliantly blocked on the line by Aston to keep them in the lead.
Bosie broke away and another pin point pass from Rory H found Reuben S down the right who cut in to smash it passed the keeper. 3-5 Bosie.
5 mins to go and straight from the kick off Blabys centre forward picked up the ball, weaved through 4 players and immediately pulled a goal back 4-5.
With good game managment and Blaby now losing their heads, Bosie went on to close this cracking tie with the under dogs going on to register a 4-5 victory against a team 2 leagues above them.
We march into the next round of the cup with great confidence and a well deserved victory.
